Understanding Asthma

What is asthma, and how can nutritional therapy support you?

Asthma is a common, long-term respiratory condition affecting the airways, causing symptoms such as breathlessness, wheezing, chest tightness and coughing. It is something your GP can diagnose and advise you on, and your medical team will guide you on the prescribed medication that is right for you — that always comes first, and we never advise stopping or changing any medication.

Many people living with asthma are interested in how their individual diet, everyday habits and general wellbeing may be connected to how they feel. Working closely alongside your GP and medical team, we take time to understand your unique picture — your nutrition, lifestyle, environment and goals — and build a realistic, personalised plan to support your general wellbeing as a person living with asthma.

Nutritional therapy is not a medical treatment, and we don’t claim to treat, cure or prevent asthma. What we offer is personalised nutrition and lifestyle support for your general wellbeing — using ordinary, accessible food and practical guidance.

For years I’d had aching joints and back pain. Emma introduced me to a way of eating tailored to me, alongside the monitoring my doctors provided. My back pain has eased, I’m far less anxious, and sleeping better than ever.

Important: Nutritional therapy is a complementary approach that supports general health and wellbeing. It is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and we do not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent asthma or any other medical condition. The information on this page is for general education only. Always consult your GP or a qualified healthcare professional about any medical condition or symptom, and before changing your diet, lifestyle or supplements — particularly if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or under medical care. Never stop or change any prescribed medication without first speaking to your doctor. Individual results vary and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.
