PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) is a common hormonal condition affecting people with ovaries. It can involve irregular periods, elevated androgen levels, and changes in weight, skin, hair growth and hair loss, among other experiences — and for many people, an ongoing struggle with cravings and hunger that doesn’t seem to ease no matter what they try. Your GP can diagnose PCOS through examination and blood tests, and will advise on appropriate medical care — that always comes first.
Where nutritional therapy can help is in exploring the individual picture behind those symptoms. We use Metabolic Balance®, a personalised nutrition programme built from your own blood analysis rather than a one-size-fits-all diet sheet. It’s structured across four stages and centred on real food — not shakes, powders or strict rules — tailored to you.
For many people with PCOS, weight can feel like an uphill battle, and this is often linked to how the body handles blood sugar and insulin. When the body is under strain, blood sugar can swing more sharply, pushing insulin higher — and insulin is thought to be a key driver behind PCOS-related cravings, weight and cycle irregularity. Refined food and sugar can add to that hormonal load. By working towards steadier blood sugar, some clients notice their ‘food noise’ — that constant background hunger and craving — begin to quieten within the first couple of weeks, easing pressure on the body’s wider hormone balance alongside their GP’s care.
Nutritional therapy is not a medical treatment, and we don’t claim to treat, cure or prevent PCOS. What we offer is personalised nutrition and lifestyle support for your general wellbeing — using ordinary, accessible food and practical guidance.

After I had my son, my hormones changed a lot and my PCOS felt like it was getting worse. Once I started the programme I gradually began to feel more like myself again — with so much more energy. Emma was amazing.
Despite being active and fit, I’d gradually got larger as I approached 50. With Emma’s direction the way of eating was perfect for me.* I’ve never been hungry, and my sugar cravings disappeared almost immediately.
