Understanding PCOS

What is PCOS, and how can nutritional therapy support you?

PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) is a common hormonal condition affecting people with ovaries, often involving irregular periods, elevated androgen levels, and the presence of small follicles on the ovaries. Your GP can diagnose PCOS and advise on appropriate medical care — that conversation always comes first.

Many people living with PCOS are interested in how their individual diet, daily habits and lifestyle factors might be affecting how they feel. A nutritional therapist can work alongside your medical care to build a realistic, personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan that may help support your general wellbeing and energy levels.

Nutritional therapy is not a medical treatment, and we don’t claim to treat, cure or prevent PCOS. What we offer is personalised nutrition and lifestyle support for your general wellbeing — using ordinary, accessible food and practical guidance.

After I had my son, my hormones changed a lot and my PCOS felt like it was getting worse. Once I started the programme I gradually began to feel more like myself again — with so much more energy. Emma was amazing.

Important: Nutritional therapy is a complementary approach that supports general health and wellbeing. It is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and we do not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent PCOS or any other medical condition. The information on this page is for general education only. Always consult your GP or a qualified healthcare professional about any medical condition or symptom, and before changing your diet, lifestyle or supplements — particularly if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or under medical care. Never stop or change any prescribed medication without first speaking to your doctor. Individual results vary and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.

PCOS & nutritional therapy

Common questions

No — nutritional therapy isn’t a medical treatment or a cure, and we don’t claim to treat, cure or prevent PCOS. What we can do is help you understand how your individual diet and lifestyle may be affecting how you feel, and build a personalised plan to support your general wellbeing.
We always recommend seeing your GP about symptoms such as irregular periods or hormonal concerns — they can arrange appropriate tests and advise on medical care. Nutritional therapy works best alongside that care, never instead of it.
We take a detailed look at your diet, lifestyle, symptoms and health history to build a personalised plan. Sessions are practical and realistic — focused on sustainable changes that suit your everyday life.
Absolutely. Nutritional therapy is designed to complement the care you receive from your GP or gynaecologist, not to replace it. Many of our clients work with us alongside their existing medical support.
