Understanding Anxiety

What is anxiety, and how can nutritional therapy support you?

Anxiety is a common condition characterised by persistent feelings of worry, nervousness or unease that can be difficult to bring under control. It can affect sleep, concentration and everyday life in significant ways. Your GP is the right first port of call — they can assess your symptoms, offer a diagnosis and advise on appropriate medical care, which may include talking therapies or medication. We never replace that medical support, and we strongly encourage you never to stop any prescribed medication without speaking to your doctor first.

Many people living with anxiety are interested in whether their diet, sleep patterns and everyday habits could be playing a role in how they feel. Nutritional therapy takes a personalised look at factors such as blood sugar balance, nutrient intake and lifestyle rhythms that may have a bearing on general mood and wellbeing. Working strictly alongside your GP and medical team, we can build a realistic, individual nutrition and lifestyle plan aimed at supporting your general wellbeing as you navigate life with anxiety.

Nutritional therapy is not a medical treatment, and we don’t claim to treat, cure or prevent anxiety. What we offer is personalised nutrition and lifestyle support for your general wellbeing — using ordinary, accessible food and practical guidance.

Important: Nutritional therapy is a complementary approach that supports general health and wellbeing. It is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and we do not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent anxiety or any other medical condition. The information on this page is for general education only. Always consult your GP or a qualified healthcare professional about any medical condition or symptom, and before changing your diet, lifestyle or supplements — particularly if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or under medical care. Never stop or change any prescribed medication without first speaking to your doctor. Individual results vary and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.

Common questions

No — nutritional therapy isn’t a medical treatment or a cure, and we don’t claim to treat, cure or prevent anxiety. What we can do is help you understand how your individual diet and lifestyle may be affecting how you feel, and build a personalised plan to support your general wellbeing.
Every person is different, but a nutritional therapist might explore areas such as blood sugar balance, caffeine and stimulant intake, nutrient levels that play a role in general mood and sleep, and everyday lifestyle habits — all with a view to supporting your overall wellbeing alongside your medical care.
